Air Duct Cleaning
HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOU NEED TO CLEAN THE AIR DUCTS IN YOUR HOME?
Years of build-up of dust and debris in your air ducts mean that you aren’t getting the most out of your HVAC or heating systems, and you could be wasting countless dollars from the blockage. Dust, small objects, and much more – trust us at Duct Cleaning CT, we have seen things inside your ductwork that blew our minds – can get into the ducts, and it’s tough to get it all out on your own. That’s where Duct Cleaning CT comes in. We offer thorough duct cleaning services that can remove a blockage in your ducts to maximize airflow, letting you get the most out of your air conditioning and heating.
Think about how much household dust would accumulate on the floor if it was never swept or vacuumed. Then think about what may have fallen into those vents built into the floor over the years! Allergens, pet hair, mold, and household dust can accumulate over time in your homes HVAC ductwork. Every time you turn on your heating or air conditioning system these contaminants are agitated and can recirculate through your home. A proper HVAC air duct cleaning can remove years of contaminants from your home.
According to NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association), air duct cleaning should be conducted every two or three years for a healthier home. However, homes with pets or children with allergies should have their air ducts professionally cleaned more frequently than the recommended average.
Your home’s Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is important, and having a clean, properly functioning heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system is vital to maintaining a clean, healthy, and comfortable living environment.
In addition, a newly cleaned air duct system runs more efficiently than a dirty one, resulting in lower utility bills and a cleaner, less dusty home. Our air duct cleaning technicians check for dust, dirt, pollen, animal dander and other airborne contaminants that are pulled into your HVAC system every time the furnace or air conditioner runs. Over time, they build up inside your ductwork, making your air duct system a breeding ground for mold spores, bacteria, fungus, mildew and other microbes, which are then recirculated through your home, impacting the health and comfort of your family.
Those who suffer from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory ailments, especially children and the elderly, are vulnerable to the effects of indoor air pollution. As a result, most health experts agree on the health benefits of proper, and regular, air duct cleaning. Duct Cleaning CT’s specially certified technicians have the training and experience to remove harmful contaminants from your home. Our exclusive HEPA vacuum and air compressor system pulls air duct pollutants into a contained filtration system so efficiently that it is capable of capturing debris 1/300th the diameter of a human hair.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN AIR DUCT CLEANING SERVICE PROVIDER
If you choose to have your ducts cleaned, the service provider should:
• Open access ports or doors to allow the entire system to be cleaned and inspected.
• Inspect the system before cleaning to be sure that there are no asbestos-containing materials (e.g., insulation, register boots, etc.) in the heating and cooling system. Asbestos-containing materials require specialized procedures and should not be disturbed or removed except by specially trained and equipped contractors.
• Use vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of the home, or use only high-efficiency particle air (HEPA) vacuuming equipment if the vacuum exhausts inside the home.
• Protect carpet and household furnishings during cleaning.
• Use well-controlled brushing of duct surfaces in conjunction with contact vacuum cleaning to dislodge dust and other particles.
• Use only soft-bristled brushes for fiberglass duct boards and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass. (Although flex duct can also be cleaned using soft-bristled brushes, it can be more economical to simply replace accessible flex duct.)
• Take care to protect the duct work, including sealing and re-insulating any access holes the service provider may have made or used so they are airtight.
• Follow NADCA‘s standards for air duct cleaning and NAIMA‘s recommended practice for ducts containing fiber glass lining or constructed of fiber glass duct board.
OUR AIR DUCT CLEANING STEP GUIDE
1. Preparation
• As a precaution, we first cover anything near your vents with plastic.
• On the floor directly below each register and grille we lay a protective cloth where we can place your register and our tools without dirtying your carpet.
• Remove each register and grille, placing them on the protective cloth mentioned above.
• Check the durability of your duct to determine how many psi can be used without compromising the strength of your HVAC system.
2. Cleaning
• Wash the registers and grilles by hand or, if they are very dirty, take them outside for heavier cleaning.
• Use the Scorpion air whip system in conjunction with our negative air machine to simultaneously dislodge and capture all the debris in your air movement system.
• Clean all accessible FAU (Forced Air Units) components (blower, heat exchanger, evaporator, plenums)
• Clean the ductwork from the plenums outward to get any debris that couldn’t be reached in cleaning step 2
3. Wrap Up
• Reinstall all registers and grilles
• Remove protective floor cloth and plastic
• Ensure we have left no mess behind in your home or business
• Inform you that we have completed as well as anything noteworthy or concerning regarding your HVAC system
HOW MUCH WILL IT TO COST?
Most air duct systems exchange air in the entire house or building, if we were to clean only a small portion of the system, the debris which was removed from the cleaned section could just settle in any uncleaned section. For this reason, we only take jobs where the entirety of a system is cleaned except in rare instances where there are multiple separate systems fully isolated from one another.
